Help fill the sails.

Eating disorders are among the deadliest illnesses in psychiatry and among the least funded. Your gift helps build the research, the training, and the crossings to care that people on the near shore are still waiting for.

About our tax status. Farther Shore Institute is a Utah nonprofit corporation (entity no. 14734001-0140; EIN 43-2181158), organized exclusively for charitable, scientific and educational purposes. We are applying to the IRS for federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. If it is granted, gifts made since our incorporation on September 4, 2026 are expected to be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Every donor receives a receipt, and we'll write to you when the IRS makes its determination.

Monthly giving

Choose “monthly” in the form above. Steady gifts let us plan grants and fellowships with confidence, and you can change or cancel any time from your receipt email.

After IRS determination

Donor-advised funds, stock & foundations

Most donor-advised funds and foundations can only grant to organizations the IRS has already recognized. We'll open these options as soon as our 501(c)(3) determination arrives. If you'd like to plan a larger gift, we'd love to talk.

Questions

Before you give

Is my gift tax-deductible?
Not yet guaranteed. We are applying for 501(c)(3) status. If the IRS approves it, recognition generally applies back to our date of incorporation (September 4, 2026), and gifts made since then are expected to be deductible to the extent allowed by law. If it isn't approved, gifts would not be deductible. We'll tell every donor as soon as we know. This isn't tax advice; please check with your own advisor.
Will I get a receipt?
Yes. You'll receive an emailed receipt as soon as your gift goes through, with the amount and date. Our legal name is Farther Shore Institute, EIN 43-2181158.
Is giving online secure?
Payments are processed by our secure payment provider. Farther Shore Institute never sees or stores your card details.
Who runs Farther Shore Institute?
We're an independent Utah nonprofit founded in 2026 by Reid Robison, MD, MBA, and Anya Ragnhildstveit. Our projects, including ED Currents, operate under a published editorial & conflict-of-interest policy.
Can I direct my gift to one program?
Gifts are unrestricted by default, which lets us put them where they're needed most in our early years. If you'd like to support a specific program, add a note with your gift and we'll honor it within our charitable purposes.
No one crosses alone

Research builds the boat. Access is the crossing.
